NOTE:  This is a Temporary Student Intern appointment.  This assignment is for a full time position during the summer academic break.  Refer to the Scholar Program website at for additional student employment information. 

The Institute for Scientific Computing Research (ISCR) within the Computation Directorate is offering high school students the opportunity to engage in practical work experience to further their educational goals.
Selected applicants will be required to provide most current unofficial transcripts and obtain a work permit through their High School.
- Students will work with scientists and technical staff members to participate in technical research support to projects in the areas of computational science, numerical methods, cyber defense, mathematics or other related fields.
- Under close supervision, will participate in related work in the assigned area.
- Gather and analyze data or information in support of scientific research.
- May give a presentation based on the work completed.
- Perform all assignments in accordance with ES&H, security, and business practice requirements and policies.

- Must be currently admitted or enrolled in an accredited high school pursuing a high school diploma.
- Proven academic achievement.
- Capacity to work independently as well as on a team
- Experience programming in some of the following languages: C++, Java, HTML, PHP, Javascript and Python.
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, and a mathematical understanding of Excel.
- Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate with staff and document work.
- GPA of 3.0 or above.  

Pre-Employment Drug Test:  External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test.
